Sejal S Sood

Sejal S Sood is the creator and visionary of Sircle. She has trained and performed in Indian Classical dance for 18 years, but her true inspiration comes from folk dance and Yoga. Though she is formally trained in Mathematics from MIT, her passion for dance has led her to travel, study and teach across Asia for the last 12 years. After many years of training and performing with dance companies in NYC and Mumbai, Sejal branched off on her own and created Sircle.

Repetition is all around us, and when we see it aesthetically, visually we pause… we reflect. We experience a moment of union with the visual. But when we repeat every day with our body or with our actions, we get bored, frustrated … ready for something new different. But what if that repetition and structure is exactly what we need to find new and different. Why is it that every ancient church, temple, mosque, monastery they all have repeating patterns? Repetition, pattern, give us the structure to achieve freedom. If we were a feather on its own, we would float around and fly around according to our environment.
