Vanessa fae has been hoop dancing since 2010, dancing since 1998 and is a lifelong, trained performer in theatre and music.
A Miami native, vanessa spent the better part of seven years living in Chicago, where she completed improv-theatre training programs at Second City Conservatory, iO and Annoyance Theater, and later performed with iO house team, Emperor. In Chicago, she also studied acting and movement at Act One Studios, as well as street-dance styles liquid, digits, tutting and waving in its dance scene.
When she found Chicago’s object-manipulation community and picked up a hoop, she fell in love in a new way. She has now trained with over a dozen notable hoop dancers and has evolved her practice to multiple hoops and various other objects, such as flags, fans, and squares.
Most recently, vanessa has been training in aerial silks and lyra, a perfect fit for her, since she has had a passionate interest in circus and gymnastics from a young age, and is highly flexible.
vanessa brings to her dance the musicality of a trained classical musician, the artistry of an innovative creator, the polished skill of a meticulous kinesthetic performer and yogi, and the joy of a curious childlike energy. The repertoire of tricks that she integrates into her movement is deep and constantly expanding. Whether she is performing onstage in front of hundreds or street performing, vanessa enjoys eliciting smiles and wonder from the beauty of her intricate, flowing dance.
