Nic Wolf picked up his first pair of poi at a summer camp as a child – he played with them for a single night and then forgot about them. Little did he know that they would come back into his life almost a decade later to change the way he looked at art and spirituality. Though it started as a hobby, his practice quickly transformed into a burning passion. He founded the University of Arizona’s flow art and fire dancing group in order to teach and share his love. His performance and teaching philosophy are centered around exploring movement, dance and geometry with a variety of props in order to achieve a state of mental clarity and focus. What began as an obsession with spinning poi has grown into a love of expressive movement as a spiritual tool.
