Q. In the (rare) moments when you guys aren’t on stage or in the studio, what are your favorite ways to spend some time away from your instruments?
A. I like to spend my time surrounding myself in natural environments, taking in the silence and timing that the more sane natural world has to offer. Also i like to be with or friends, people of resonant mindsets, thinking about how to alter things on earth for the better, and simply enjoying each others company.

Q. What lead the band to become the improvisational, electronic act we see on stage today? Is Papadosio the culmination of a jam/rock band’s transition to jamtronica or has the group always maintained the mission to always kick off an electronically charged dance party?
A. We were just being ourselves, we take influence from mostly “out of the scene” music, such as Tool, Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, and Aphex Twin, but since we have roots in jazz improvisation, we’ve been curiously lumped into the jamtronic genre. If we are trying to change anything it is to sing more, there certainly isn’t enough musicians out there using the old vocal chords.

Q. Are there any artists in particular you are psyched to see this year at Sonic Bloom?
A. I saw the Karsh Kale and Janover set at Waka last year and was blown away, really looking forward to that, Im also really into Brendan Angelides Projects (Eskmo / Welder) as he is unrelentingly creative and doesn’t seem to be trying to sound like anyone else, which is unfortunately a rarity in electronic music these days.

Q. After an extensive spring tour and a loaded festival season on deck, what are some of the things you do to stay motivated, and to get out there and play your hardest night after night?
A. The fact that people need positive influence and reciprocal inspiration to do the right thing on a daily basis, our artistic exploration is a also an exploration of ourselves and the role we play in changing the existing social paradigm. The scene can be very ugly, we would like to see people focus more on art and spirituality and less on the money, ego, drug, stuff.

Q. If you could have one hour in anyone’s shoes, whose shoes would those be?
A. Couldn’t be more full of gratitude to be in the shoes we are presently in
